Do you like Banners? I do and I’m running out of wall space. I wanted to make a fun one that would look super cute in my studio and since, I’ve always wanted my the studio to have a “GIRLIE” look, So, I made a banner that reads ” G I R L I E”
Are you not into the look of natural burlap, somedays I am and other days I hate it! So, I thought about painting over it and found and fell in love with paint from Art Anthology- the owner Stacy a former designer for Tattered Angels-set out to make a new and friendly product. Bright vibrant colors-you can choose from Sorbets or Velvets, Metallics. (sprays or paints-local company Huntington Beach, CA)
I took some burlap pennants/bunting 8 x 10 triangles 38 inches long. I used Art Anthology’s Cotton (Velvet-Dimensional paint), I painted the burlap (don’t look to close some of it’s not completely covered). After, waiting for it to dry, I started the fun part DECORATING, I cut out 3 1/2 circles from canvas (I was going to distress) I added 1 piece of Pink burlap (on top of the first “I”), I added 2 1/2 circles that I cut from doilies. I saw some cute doilies in lot’s of fun colors,I found them at This and That-a quirky little store with some great employees located in Chino Hills. Now that we’ve been on a road trip- why not get back to Maya Road (like that ?) I used their natural rosettes and they are shown under the G< RHobby Lobby in a package of three (3)
Sizzix Serif Letters from Sizzix and my Big Shot (Sizzix), Hey Sizzix- I really want your new one!!!! I used the letters to cut out paper from Authentique papers.(I needed a thicker paper), I was lucky and stumbled upon this great ruffled canvas-in a Hot Pink Color. I attached it behind the painted burlap pennants/bunting. I have some glitter paper (Dazzling Diamonds) from Stampin Up! I cut it at 2 x 3 My extra punch was locating beautiful ombre paper flowers, I added them to the circles light to dark, going across the pennants/bunting. I found them at Michael’s.
While tying the pennants together I used a heavier twine and it looked ugly, So I went to the ribbon cabinet and took out three different pink ribbons, a Sheer, a Organza and a Grosgrain. I still saw the twine, I added a little taupe tulle under the pink ribbon and it made me HAPPY!!
