I recently did a design for Linnie Blooms, using their canvas treat bag. These bags are sold in the Linnie Blooms catalog $3.49 for one (1) www.Linnieblooms.com (catalog).
These bags are super easy to work with and they are very deep inside. If you know me than, you know how much I love planning parties and giving everyone party gifts and these bags are perfect for doing the job. You can use them to create all sorts of things, they can cater to your themes/desires/needs. If you don’t know me- WHY NOT?????
I choose to create a fun bag- my taste of a ballerina (treat bag),
I started the bag using the Linnie Blooms full canvas tree, I turned it upside down, I painted it using Art Anthology and texture from Ranger.
I painted the bag-I used a negative sheet of cardstock, (I punched out circles, with a circle punch seven (7) circles in five rows. I laid the card stock across the bag and brayer it the paint. I wrapped string around my brayer ran it through paint and when applied gave a different texture. I took the thread and bunch it up and dipped it into the pain and splattered it (that was fun). I just wanted to keep building.
After applying all the paint and texture to the Full Canvas Tree, the canvas start to curl (create the tutu look), I added some thick thread for layering the peach colored trim is attached to the hand drawn ballerina shoes.
The canvas is very easy to use, I took both side of the bag and held it together; I took my crop-a-dile and punch right through (even height). l Probably would add eyelets, grommets the next time more character. I think all kinds of ribbon should get along and I add all types. The handle is a light pink gingham,I’ve knotted hot pink tulle, hot pink organza, hot pink grosgrain and Linnie Blooms Blue colored trim.
I added a little something for you -if you are unsure on how to draw the shoes follow these simple instructions how to draw ballerina shoes
Draw the top of the shoe. Draw a sort of long ball at the top of the shoe that will connect both ends of the shoe together, repeating the process for the other shoe. Draw the ribbons. To draw them, start with zig-zags from the top of the shoe upwards. Then add some structure by making the lines about an inch thick, maybe smaller depending on how big your shoe is. Do this for both shoes.
Color in your shoes using pencils. Always remember to colour them all the same way with your pencil so you don’t get streaky lines down your drawing. Outline the whole thing in a darker color than you used to color it in.
